suddenly Lord Krishna appeared in front of Him and said, "Why do you worry so ?" Shri Mahaprabhuji then replied " The nature of these souls is so sinful that I am concenred as to how thier reunion with you can ever take place" Shri Krishna then consoled Shri Mahaprabhuji saying, " Those who take intiation from You will be relieved of all sins and I will personally accept them. Go out and take divine souls under your shelter." The reason why Shri Mahaprabhuji was worried about how the souls sinful by nature would be able to be reunited with thier Lord, was that. In sampradaya, there are two rites generally performed viz and . The first gives recognition as a vaishnava and the second makes one Adhikari in the Seva marga. The first initiation is given by a decendent of Vallabhacharya by repeatation of theSHRI KRISHNA SHARANAM MAMA in the ears of the child (after 41 day's of birth)and then putting the Tulsi Kanthi on his neck. The performance of the second initiation is also performed through a decendent of Vallabhacharya. In both the initiations, age is not to be considered. The second rite is Brahmasambandha.
Brahmasambandha means the initiation ceremony of pustimarga. Without
this initiation, no one can become the Adhikarin or has right of seva or service of Lord
Krishna in Pustimarga. This initiation consists of two parts. One is the formula to be
repeated by the initiate before the diety through Acharya. The other part is the effect of
the same, on the devotee, by which he becomes the Adhikarin in the sevamarga of Lord Shri
Krishna.
In the Brahmasambandha formula the position of Jiva is explained. The initiate after
taking the Tulsi leaves in his hands before deity utters the mantra which means -"Oh
Lord Shri Krishna, I’m seperated from you thousands of years before and am suffering the
pangs of seperation. My pleasure has gone away as I have become seperated from you. Oh
Lord Krishna, I hereby offer and dedicate my life along with my conscience and their
duties to you. I herewith, O Lord, dedicate my wife\husband, my children, my wealth, my
home and everything pertaining to myself to you."It is to be remembered that this
dedication is to be made to Lord Krishna and not to any one else. This is also
called Atmanivedana or self surrender. This self surrender is to be remembered always and
should be realised every now and then.

The expression Brahmasambandha means relatonship with
Brahman. The first step which an initiate is to take is to realize the relation that ever
exists between God and man. At the time of this initiation ceremony the initiate is
required to utter the formula which means a complete self dedication to God Lord
Shri Krishna.
The Jiva or the living being is Ansha or Parabrahman or God. When he becomes seperate from his Anshin Lord Krishna and comes to the world he forgets his relationship owing to a strong attack of five wordly faults. Shri Vallabhacharya says that a Jiva can only become free and pure when he takes Brahmasambandha.
